Library Services at Ivanhoe Grammar School

Modern, welcoming and well equipped, the four libraries of Ivanhoe Grammar School provide vibrant reading and research programs.

Ivanhoe Grammar School libraries excel in new learning environments where blended learning requires knowledgeable use of traditional book sources of information as well as careful selection from online offerings. Students are taught to become increasingly independent researchers who know how to determine information problems, find the best resources, take notes and synthesise them into coherent written, oral or audio visual presentations.

Teacher librarians and teachers together plan units of work, ensuring that the best resources are available in the libraries as well as via the School’s virtual learning environment. Audio visual technicians train teachers and students to use digital technology to make their presentations engaging.

Literature and reading is a focus of library displays, activities, author visits, excursions and intranet pages.  Students’ reading is monitored in timetabled wide reading programs and each is encouraged to develop the lifelong skill of reading for pleasure.
