The Senior Years Curriculum builds on approaches to learning developed in the Middle Years
Using these solid foundations students are directed toward independent and self-directed learning in readiness for University study and on-going learning in the workplace.
The Three Years Senior Studies program enables students to prepare for the challenges of the VCE or International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma over three years rather than two.
Aside from the study of the core subjects, all students are able to choose four-year-long preparatory VCE and/or IB electives in Year 10 and depending on their readiness, may choose to study further VCE subjects over Years 10 and 11. All students at Year 10 through the study of Global Perspectives complete two VCE units at Year 11 level. This will allow the possibility of fewer VCE subjects taken in Year 12 and will provide more time to achieve in these subjects.
Year 10 studies provide students with experiences to enable them to make an informed choice about further studies. The concepts of internationalism, democracy and service are weaved throughout the curriculum.
Learning is enhanced through regular assessment and progress is monitored.
Students have access to course counselling including careers testing and advice and support programs are available for students who have English as a Second Language (ESL) and with diagnosed learning difficulties.
Academic enrichment programs including programs equivalent to first year university studies for Year 12 students and competitions are available for the highly able students.
Throughout the senior years, students maintain their involvement with other areas of learning including sport, performing arts, music, adventure, leadership and service and a comprehensive co-curricular program which includes the opportunity to be part of the Cadets.

Study Choices
At the Ridgeway and Plenty Campuses, the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) which may include studies from Vocational Education and Training (VET) are offered.
VET subjects include Equine, Hospitality and Aviation Studies.
At the Ridgeway Campus students can choose to study the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, an internationally recognised alternative to the VCE. The IB operates in more than 2095 schools around the world and provides a cohesive and comprehensive educational program for highly motivated students. Highly regarded by both Australian and international universities, the Diploma is recognised as an excellent tertiary preparation course.

Information Technology
Ivanhoe is a notebook computer school with all students expected to have a personal computer.
Senior students have access to:
- An extensive, school-wide computer network which includes internet, email and printing capabilities
- A wide range of educational software
- Curriculum resources via myIvanhoe, which is accessible from anywhere internet connection is available
- Projection facilities and interactive whiteboards in classrooms
- An extensive library of educational video resources via Clickview.
