Ivanhoe Grammar School is founded on Christian (Anglican) educational principles and welcomes students from all faiths

All students attend Chapel services on a regular basis and Religion, Values and Faith education forms part of the core curriculum. Students are encouraged to examine the claims of the Christian faith, to respond to them and to develop their own spiritual understanding.

Three of the chaplains are priests of the Anglican Church whilst the fourth is ordained in the Baptist Church; they form part of the pastoral care team at the school, ensuring students are nurtured and well cared for. In addition, the chaplains care for staff, parents and alumni of the Ivanhoe community and are available for counselling, baptisms, confirmation preparation, weddings and funerals.

Students' individual differences and beliefs are respected and students are given opportunities to explore their own spiritual understanding through personal reflection and retreats.
