Recent Achievements in Philanthropy

 
Ivanhoe Grammar School's recent capital campaign, The Tomorrow Campaign, has raised over $4 million towards projects across both the Ivanhoe and the Plenty Campuses. Through the generous support of both individuals and groups forming part of the Ivanhoe Community, we are pleased to share the following recent achievements in Philanthropy:  
   

SCIENCE

TR Lee Science Building The Ridgeway Campus

Opened by the Governor of Victoria, Professor David de Krester, A.C. in 2007 the $4 million TR Lee Science Building provides state-of-the-art laboratories, preparation areas, classrooms and staff offices for The Ridgeway secondary students.

 
   
   

THE ARTS

Another exciting result of the Tomorrow Campaign was the opening of the Creative Arts Centre at the Plenty Campus.

The Creative Arts Centre Plenty Campus

The Creative Arts Centre was opened in 2005. Containing two art rooms, a materials technology room, large gallery space and staff offices, the Creative Arts Centre is also now home to the Food Technology Centre and dining room.

 
   
   

SPORT

The extensive redevelopment of the North Ground is a result of the generous support of donors to Ivanhoe Grammar School's capital campaigns.

North Ground Redevelopment

The installation of a synthetic grassed surface with a range of sporting conifguration's has provided a vital extension of the School's sporting facilities and capacity to cater for PE, sports classes and competition programs, without diminishing play space.

 
 
   

Features of the North Ground redevelopment include:

  • Synthetic short and long-pile surfaces
  • A state-of-the-art water storage reservoir beneath the grounds with the capacity to hold one mega litre of water
  • Eight lane 80m running track
  • Courts for netball, volleyball (senior and junior) and bat tennis
  • Soccer field with a longer pile, ideal for all girls' soccer and junior boys' soccer matches and for senior boys' training
  • Markings for a range of sports including softball and hockey
  • Sand pit for long jump and triple jump
  • Marking for four square, rounders and T-Ball
  • Storage cages for volleyball and netball posts and nets (still to be erected)
  • Fencing (not permanent) but available to be used as required
  • Electronic scoreboard
  • Soccer goals
  • Basketball court, and half court, redeveloped at South end of the North Ground.
 
   

John G Waring Junior Oval

Renovation of the grassed area outside the Buckley House Reception and surrounds has created a quality multi-function sporting and recreation amenity for the Buckley House community.

 

Features include:

  • A grassed synthetic surface providing a sustainable and attractive sports facility for ELC to Year 6
  • Landscaped surrounds
  • A series of terraced seats/ stairs providing opportunities for seating during assemblies, outdoor concerts, sporting games and informal campus gatherings
  • A covered walkway outisde ELC and Prep classrooms.
 
 
   

Sports Oval Plenty Campus

A full-size AFL-Cricket oval has recently been completed to provide a vital extension of the School’s sporting facilities with the most flexibility for the delivery of sports, PE and competition programs. The plenty Campus Oval and electronic scoreboard provides a wonderful community space for whole school activities and various House school activities.

 
   
   

INNOVATION

The Innovation Centre at Buckley House is a fantastic addition to the School's facilities. It provides a superior venue for the gathering of students.

 
   

Innovation Centre - Buckley House

Opened by Geoffrey Blainey AC on 5 September 2007, the $5.2 million Innovation Centre was made possible through philanthropy and prudent financial management. An outstanding facility, the Innovation Centre houses Years 5 and 6 and offers a state-of-the-art Science facility and an open forum, providing opportunities for public speaking, IT presentations, music, drama peformances and community seminars.

 
   
   

INTERNATIONAL

International Centre - The Ridgeway Campus

The International Centre has been a wonderful asset to the School since its opening in August 2008. Looking out over the South Ground, the International Centre is a midpoint between the main senior school building and Locksley. It comprises four teaching spaces, a recreation area with kitchen facilities for students, staff offices and amenities. It is also the home of the NEAS accredited ELICOS (Intensive English) program.

 
   
   

FOOD TECHNOLOGY

The Tomorrow Campaign has helped raise funds towards the completion of the Food Technology Centres at both The Ridgeway and Plenty Campuses.

Food Technology Centre - Plenty Campus

The Plenty Campus' industrial kitchen and dining room was officially opened by Peter Russell Clarke in Novemebr 2008. With the ovens now commissioned, students are enjoying a range of new programs including the introduction of Food Technology as an elective subject in Years 9 and 10 and as part of the Integrated Year 6 curriculum.

 
 
   

Food Technology Centre  - The Ridgeway Campus

Term 1 of 2011 welcomed Year 7 and 8 students for the first time through the new Food Technology Centre at The Ridgeway Campus. The facility has been designed to replicate a domestic kitchen as closely as possible and is currently being used to teach students basic food preparation skills required for independent living. There are plans for expansion of the Food technology program in the future as the program is being positively enjoyed by students.

 
   
   

MEETING PLACES

The Ridge Café has become a welcome addition to Ivanhoe Grammar School providing a central place where students can mix at key times throughout the day.

The Ridge Café – The Ridgeway Campus

The Ridge, the new state-of-the-art cafeteria on The Ridgeway Campus was made possible through generous support from the School community and opened for brisk business in July 2008. With seating for up to 200 people, The Ridge has very quickly achieved its goal of creating a physical heart for the School community, with students, staff and parent groups enjoying the magnificent internal and external facilities. The area has been further enhanced with the completion of the landscaped courtyard area to the south of the Ridge.
