Buckley House encourages enquiry learning
At Buckley House, a strong focus is placed on enquiry learning to encourage students to learn for themselves. Teachers explicitly teach enquiry skills and strategies that help students to learn how to gather, organise and present information and develop information literacy skills.
Enquiry learning involves children exploring their biological, physical and social world through Science, Social Education, Personal Development, Health, Environmental Education and Intercultural Knowledge.
Science
Buckley House is home to the Innovation Centre, a unique stand alone Science and Year 5 and 6 Facility with its own specialist Science teacher. The Vivarium contained within the Science classroom allows students to study animals such as green tree frogs, blue tongue and dragon lizards and long necked turtles in their natural habitats.
The facility places an emphasis on the Physical Sciences and helps children develop a passion for their scientific world. It helps harness children’s natural curiosity and spark their imaginations.
