Cambodia Teacher Training Project
23 Jun 2009
Two Ivanhoe teachers have travelled to Cambodia during the July School holidays as part of the Cambodia Teacher Training Project. In its fourth year, this project brings teachers from Ivanhoe to Cambodia to help trainee teachers learn new teaching methods and to support the move towards a style of education which engages the students and is not simply rote learning from textbooks.
Ivanhoe teachers present demonstration lessons on topics designated by the International Baccalaureate Schools to Schools Project as well assisting to develop lesson plans and participating in regular classes in various schools throughout Cambodia. The project has been an extraordinary success with Cambodian teachers benefiting from learning new ways to engage their students. Ivanhoe teachers have also come away from the project with many new ideas and the great sense of satisfaction in being able to contribute their skills to disadvantaged schools.
The biggest winners are of course the students who are able to take advantage of the new methods of teaching presented to them and get inspired by new activities to get the most out of their education.
